This is a thoughtful and very relatable breakdown of what really matters in becoming a successful programmer. I especially appreciate how you connect persistence, problem solving, and attention to detail to real-world examples—both in software development and outside of it. The AI perspective adds an interesting layer, showing that these human skills are becoming even more important as tools handle more of the syntax-heavy work. The example about case sensitivity perfectly illustrates how attention to detail can make or break a solution, even for experienced professionals. Overall, this post does a great job of reinforcing that strong programming skills aren’t just about knowing a language, but about how you think, learn, and approach problems over time.

We agree that type of question won't be on the exam. However, it trains you to answer questions that will be. By having to look for compiler errors in extra questions you get more practice. Our goal isn't to simulate the exam. It's to help you pass.

OK, I finally found it. I don't get why Oracle makes things so complicated.

You need to look for "Oracle Technology Exam Subscription". It's not the link at the top of the page!

I had failed in 2021 and haven't done much since then, but yesterday I wanted to check what's your latest book and saw this. I didn't know of its existence and it would have been of great help back then.

I immediately redeemed the test banks for Java 11 book and started them.

However I noticed your questions are tricky and misleading in a way Oracle has stated they won't be on the exam. How do I know that?

To give you one example, they clearly stated you won't be examined on something that the question is not asking, for example there won't be a compile error on a question about let's say Streams unless it's part of the matter.

I see plenty of those types of misleading questions.

Back in 2021 there was a promotion for the 25th anniversary of the language and the Oracle online course was accessible with the promotion. It was explained what kind of questions there will be and what kind there won't be in this course.

My mistake, Jeanne!

I got so enthused by seeing this chart that I mis-read it. I was looking at the top row across as 'Levels' rather than the left column down. I'm sorry for the confusion. It looks just fine.

Hi, Jeanne,
I was asking AI Co-Pilot to pull together a document showing the October 2025 enhancements to Pathways. It supplied the above as a reference. You did a nice job creating this. One question: referencing the top chart, do you have one that shows a Level 5 column? If so, may I please have a copy?
Thank you!
