David O’Meara is an IT Consultant and Java Developer in Perth, Western Australia.  Like Scott and Jeanne, he serves as a moderator on The JavaRanch Big Moose Saloon. He has served as a bartender (moderator) since 2001 and Sheriff (administrator) since 2008 and in that time has moderated the Servlets, JSP, JDBC, Security, HTML and Javascript forums. He also moderates at DZone.

David specialises in web based and distributed applications and has been using Java and related technologies since version 0.9. He currently spends much of his work time developing custom solutions for the Liferay Portal Server and spare time is spent in a variety of areas including open source projects and writing customizations for JavaRanch.

He is married with three young children.
